Our Mission

Friends Care, founded in 1997, was conceived and is operated in the spirit of the Religious Society of Friends.  Its mission is to support the development and management of a wide range of programs, services and facilities which enhance the quality of life for a diverse population of older persons. Central to this mission is the protection and promotion of physical, mental and spiritual health, the encouragement of personal independence, and the advancement of human growth and development.

Our Core Values

·         The dignity of every individual.

·         Sincerity, integrity and honesty in all interactions.

·         The continuing search for truth.

·         Empathy and respect for one another.

·         Appreciation for individual differences.

·         Life as a continuing revelation.

·         Life as a testimony to one's belief.

·         The beauty of simplicity.

History

In keeping with a pledge made to the Stony Run Meeting of the Society of Friends in Baltimore by Broadmead in 1976, Friends Care, Inc. was created in 1997 to support Broadmead and all other entities that would later be developed to serve a diverse senior population. In its early years, Friends Care researched a variety of opportunities through which it could fulfill its mission. In 2003, it created a subsidiary corporation named Friends Care Community Services whose primary purpose is to serve as Lead Provider of the LifeStyle Solutions Plan.  In 2004, The Community Services Corp. of New Jersey (CSCNJ) was formed to provide parallel services in the state of New Jersey.

Friends Care is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. A simple majority of the Directors are appointed by the Baltimore Monthly Meeting of Friends Stony Run, and Directors so appointed are members of the Religious Society of Friends. At least two Directors also serve on the Board of Trustees for Broadmead, Inc.
